So After

Smoking building

If there were only echoes, shadows,

black and gray
If there were only deserts,
nights, and never day
If there were only sorrow,
teardrops, falling rain,
If there were only stormy seas,
thunder, wanton pain,
Then all would be the same sadness,
all would be the lost,
All would be the emptiness
left after holocaust.
